When should you arrive?

It is recommended to arrive at the temple much earlier , so that you have enough time, park the car, get acquainted with the temple (if you are the first time), buy candles to meet the icon. The temple is planned to be open for receiving guests from 16:00 o’clock in the afternoon. Hot tea / coffee will be provided.

How to get to St. Colman’s Church?

Due to the fact that the temple is located outside the small town of Stradbally, the only way to get to the church is by car. Also, from nearby towns you can get there by taxi. The nearest town where buses go is Portlaoise, then by taxi.

Parking

There is a small parking lot at the church. Since a large number of people from all over Ireland are expected to meet the holy icon, it is recommended to come with friends/acquaintances together in one car.

Meeting the icon itself when it arrives at the temple

  • The icon must be greeted solemnly – we glorify the presence of the Mother of God Herself .
  • It is necessary to purchase a candle in advance from the church shop and light it upon arrival.
  • From the car, the custodian/priest will be led into the church with the icon to place the Iveron icon on the lectern for the subsequent service. We kindly ask you to greet it with reverence and dignity in relation to the shrine and the people around you.
  • One should not crowd or push to venerate the icon that will be brought into the church during the meeting; one should wait until it is placed on the lectern.
  • You need to approach the icon with dignity,
  • Women should remove lipstick from their lips before applying it.
  • The metal frame of the icon must not be opened!
  • After placing the icon on the lectern, you can bow and venerate the miraculous icon.

Veneration of the icon

  • After meeting the icon and placing the icon on the analoe, you can bow down and venerate the miraculous icon.
  • After the service there will also be an opportunity to approach the icon to venerate it.

Meal (Trapeza)

  • Before and after the service, you can drink hot tea/coffee in the refectory
  • After the prayer service, all those who wish will be able to replenish their strength in the refectory before the journey home.

Hawaii’s Myrrh-Streaming Iveron Icon

In June of 2008, the “Hawaiian” Myrrh-streaming Iveron Icon was officially recognized by the Russian Orthodox Church as miraculous and worthy of veneration, and was given the blessing and encouragement to travel to the various churches and monasteries of Holy Orthodoxy.  The original “owner” of the Icon, Reader (now Priest) Nectarios, was charged by the Russian Orthodox Church to be Her guardian, and provide for the safety and care of this Wonderworking Icon of Christ’s Holy Church.

The “Hawaiian” Iveron Icon of the Mother of God travels and brings the Grace of God to various places. Since June of 2008, the Iveron Icon has been to over 1000 churches in North America of all (canonical) jurisdictions, and has been venerated by millions of people throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the world.  In many cities, the holy Icon is taken from one parish to another, being venerated by all the Orthodox clergy, and helping to establish and heal relationships amongst the Orthodox faithful, and also strengthening and fostering ties between the sister parishes.  Requests have now been made for the Wonderworking Icon to be brought to Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Cyprus, South America, Europe, the Holy Land, Romania, Mount Athos, and Serbia.  When the Holy Icon was taken to the Republic of Georgia in 2014 at the request of the Catholicos-Patriarch ILIA II of Georgia, over a million faithful came to venerate the “Panagia of Hawaii.”  A number of miracles, including the healing of cancer, were reported to the Georgian Patriarchate.
